Wisconsin and Minnesota, Don'tcha Know?

Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Both states, gorgeous. Granted both today and yesterday were amazingly beautiful days, but both Madison and Minneapolis were very pretty cities.

In Madison, I got to see my old roommate Pat and his fiancee, and we walked around downtown and had dinner. We then went to University of Wisconsin's union, and they have an amazing outdoor deck that overlooks one of the lakes (there are three in Madison) and they serve beer. It was pretty impressive. Pat's fiancee's apartment, where we stayed, overlooked one of the lakes and I couldn't believe how pretty it was. We then went to this hippy place to eat breakfast, which was delicious.

The drive to Minnesota was very pretty, and no traffic for the most part. We're staying with some of Jackie's friends from college. They took us to the Mall of America and then to a sculpture garden. We didn't see much of the city itself, but what we saw was very nice.

Tomorrow we are going off to Badlands National Park, and there is a very good chance we will have no internet while out there. Hopefully I can update in a few days. Sorry no pictures yet (too busy to do it) but hoping when I get to Portland I can upload a ton. Until then...

Cedar Point = Awesomeness

Went to Cedar Point amusement park yesterday, and it was far and away the best I've been to. We went on all 15 roller coasters (non-kiddie ones) and did Millennium Force twice, once in the very front. The longest we waited for any ride was about 1.5-2 hours for Maverick which broke down twice during our wait, but it was the last coaster we hadn't done, so we waited, and it was well worth it. The most insane ride was Top Thrill Dragster which literally shot you 120mph in 7 seconds and then you go vertically up and over a huge hill and then straight down again. The ride lasts about 17 seconds, but it was intense. On top of the fact the rides were amazing, the park was clean and all of the food concessions (that weren't carts) gave out free cups of water if you just asked. Also, if you didn't know this already, the park sits on Lake Eerie and the views from the coasters were amazing. All in all a great day, though fairly long, and Jackie got quite burned. I'll try to post pictures ASAP, but right now we are off to see my college roommate, Pat, in Madison, WI.

In Ohio

Made it to Sandusky, though we drove through 4 rain storms, 2 being torrential. Staying at an old motel where there is wifi but it sucks. Hopefully weather will be much better tomorrow, and sitting outside won't be horrible (it's raining). I'll update more tomorrow.

About this blog

My goal is to update everyone on this massive roadtrip I am doing this summer. I will literally be traversing around the country to many places I have not been, and some that I have been to before. There may not be a daily update since I will be in places that are literally in the middle of nowhere, but hopefully I will do a decent job regularly updating, possibly with pictures.

First stop: Sandusky, Ohio
